We are seeking a detail-oriented Freelance Japanese Subtitle Timecoder to join our subtitle production team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating accurate subtitle timing for Japanese audiovisual content, ensuring subtitles are synchronized naturally with dialogue while meeting industry quality standards.

Requirements:

## Responsibilities
Create accurate subtitle timing for Japanese video content using professional subtitling software (e.g., Aegisub).
Synchronize subtitles with spoken dialogue while maintaining natural reading flow and viewer comfort.
Apply proper in-time and out-time based on speech, pauses, and scene transitions.
Ensure subtitle segmentation and line breaks follow readability and localization guidelines.
Identify dialogue changes, overlapping speech, and timing inconsistencies.
Coordinate with Translators, Typesetters, QC/QA staff, and Project Coordinators throughout the production process.
Revise subtitle timing based on QC feedback when necessary.
Deliver assigned projects within agreed deadlines.
## Requirements
Experience in subtitle timing for Japanese audiovisual content.
Indonesian citizen.
Proficiency in Aegisub or other professional subtitle editing software.
Good understanding of subtitle timing principles, including:
Reading speed (CPS/WPM)
Minimum and maximum subtitle duration
Shot change awareness
Dialogue synchronization
Subtitle segmentation and line breaking
Ability to recognize spoken Japanese for accurate dialogue synchronization (Japanese language proficiency is an advantage).
Strong attention to detail and consistency.
Excellent time management and ability to meet tight deadlines.
Able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a remote team environment.
## Preferred Qualifications
Experience working on anime, films, TV series, or streaming platform subtitles.
Familiarity with subtitle style guides used by major streaming platforms.
Experience handling overlapping dialogue and fast-paced conversations.
Basic knowledge of ASS subtitle formatting.
## Additional Information
This is a __remote freelance position__.
